I get asked the question a lot –  is child support and spousal support tax deductible

The answer is neither one of them are tax deductible. As of now, prior to 2019 spousal support was tax deductible, so if there was a preexisting order back in 2018 then it could still be tax deductible. Having said that, there are certain tax strategies that might mitigate certain tax burdens related to spouses.
