Dealing with modification and enforcement issues after a divorce

Among the things that generally come out of a divorce are certain court orders. Examples of common divorce-related orders are those regarding alimony, child support and child custody. Sometimes, important legal matters end up arising regarding these orders long after a divorce has been finalized.

One type of post-divorce legal issue that can come up in relation to such orders are issues regarding enforcement. Such issues arise when one of the members of the divorced couple claims that the other has failed to comply with such orders.

Another post-divorce matter that can come up is modification. This is when one party requests a change to a divorce-related order. There are many different things that a modification request could be made in connection to, including: parent relocations, allegations of domestic violence, economic changes, job changes, other major changes in circumstances or claims that the initial order was made based on incorrect information.

Just as what orders come out of a divorce can be very impactful, so too can what happens in any enforcement or modification matters that come up in connection to such orders after a divorce. It can have major impacts on the rights and obligations of the two ex-spouses and the situation of their children. So, when it comes to these types of post-divorce family law matters, a divorced individual may have many concerns about their and their family's future and well-being. So, just as legal guidance can be important when getting a divorce, so to can it be when dealing with modification or enforcement matters that have come up after a divorce.
